Data Centers

Data centers cannot be allowed to collect our data, use it for their own benefit, and then expect us to pay for the privilege through higher electrical rates, polluted water, surveillance pricing, and lost farmland. If multi-billion dollar corporations want to build low-job but high demand operations, they need to follow the same rule as everyone else. Communities should be compensated for the higher costs that comes with hosting data centers.

Communities whose zoning and local ordinances prevent data centers from setting up shop should be supported in enforcing those laws and rules, not thrown under the bus. Companies should not get their way by threatening a lawsuit that the community can’t afford to fight alone.
